The 21st Century is really a terrific phase of technology. It has undoubtedly survived its high-tech hysteria. Now, we possess some damn cool implements and gadgets, which are all-set to rule the world. Futuristic and modern revolution has taken the daily shuttle into our up-to-the-minute phase of life. The latest technology enables you to stroll in the world with style without flouting a drop of sweat.
With the whole kit and caboodle, the revolution in motorcycle engineering is taking the world by storm. While there are men who love the chancy and dicey attitude of the sport; you will meet the ones who just cannot contest progress that lead in the direction of innocuous riding. Of any kind, with time more and more individuals are stirring out on motor bikes. Honda recently exposed its latest and innovative Rider Assist Technology.
This technology promises to balance the motor bike in that wobbly dawdling ranges under 3mph. Without a doubt, you can have your primary reluctances. However, I really feel that after going through its probable benefits, you will get them all clear.
Let’s see what Honda self-balancing bike is all about!
This latest motor bike is sweeping across the board like fire. It is certainly the up-to-date, stylish, standard and fun gadget. You must have seen it all over the place: on Facebook videos or on YouTube. In fact, even superstars are riding on various self-balancing bikes and scooters. You must perhaps be thinking — these bikes must be very costly and there is no way I can pay for them. Some impressed folks might be thinking: Where did those celebs buy these damn bikes from?
Are they expensive? What are these self-balancing bikes and etcetera?
So, why you think should you buy a motor bike like this? It is a simple question with a simpler answer: for the reason that it is the future! You won’t ever realize how grand it is until you give it a drat try! This bike from Honda with its self-balancing technology lets you travel in a way you never believed was conceivable.
And just look at those gorgeous looks!! Just look at them for the first time and trust me, they are too hard to miss!!
Too good for the novice!
Remember the first time you tried to ride a bike? Do you remember when you dropped the clutch thinking that you were in neutral? Remember when you overlooked to lay the kickstand down? The humiliation of getting your motor bike tumble over is too embarrassing to go, right? Thus, this self-balancing bike from Honda is too good for learner motorcyclists. I visualize it would feel lighter at a point, as you won’t be actually governing its weight. As a gadget for a novice, I consider this to have unbelievable prospective.
What makes it work?
Honda makes use of an automated steer-by-wire system. This system unfastens the handles from the front forks at speeds lower than 3 mph. Thus, it badges the front wheel’s control to the processor. The bike is efficient enough to sense the lean angles. This swipes the wheel to one or the other side, to neutralize any tendency tip over. It likewise fine-tunes the angles of the front forks. This drops the bike’s center of gravity to recover stability. Honda’s “Riding Assist” technology does not depend on gyroscopes for balancing. It, as an alternative, uses tech resultant from the balancing schemes in its Asimo robot. Undoubtedly, Honda engineers enjoyed a lot in the process of discovering the spinoffs.
Why should you go for it?
The self-balancing bikes from Honda have various benefits. They, for sure, are a lot more than just fun to drive. You can use them for anything and everything in your normal life. With this, you can travel to work, spunk around the town, or even enjoy a Sunday hot-rodding. Moreover, these bikes are becoming more and more popular as exercise gadgets. This is for the reason that they need some balancing practice and additional energy from the rider in order to drive flawlessly.
Now, let us talk about self-balancing technology.
What is self-balancing technology?
There is nothing so uncommon about self-balancing technology. The technology is all about two gyroscopes placed as low as possible. Principally, the gyroscope is a spinning wheel or a disk with a free axis of rotation. This is capable of taking up an arbitrary orientation. The gyroscope at all times stays in the balance due to its free axis rotation. As the axis is free, the balance remains unaffected with any kind of tilting or moving. If you attempt to drive the bike over, the gyroscope thrusts it back. You can find the same technology used at a lot of places. A dominant hub motor manages everything. This motor is a 2,000-watt crest motor or 500 watts of steady power. All this is fixed on a wheel that is used by a go-kart.
Application areas of self-balancing technology
Self-balancing bike from Honda is the latest example of this technology. Regardless of initial discrimination and scorn, application areas of this technology are sweeping and unceasingly growing. Making all the researches and developments in this arena short and snappy, I am discussing few major deployment areas:
• Self-Balancing Table
A Japanese engineer developed a self-balancing table that can deliver the food, and play a melody when doing that. It is armed with quite a few infrared light sensors. This allows preserving the balance, gyroscopes. The table is regulated with remote.
• iBOT Wheelchair
Segway creator Dean Kamen designed this special kind of wheelchair. The system makes use of multiple integral computers. All of them work together with gyroscopes to climb staircases.
A 1000W battery drives this self-balancing cycle. eniCycle is proficient of running for three hours covering about 30 miles. The gadget features a gyroscope, three-hour battery in conjunction with a spring damper.
Gyrobike is again a special bike that balances using the gyroscopic precession of the autonomously spinning disk.
This self-balancing unicycle can move for about 30-miles on a single charge. Furthermore, you can attain the highest speed of 20mph. Unluckily, this unicycle is a bit pricey to own.
What the future has in store?
Whatever we have discussed is just the nitty-gritty of the self-balancing technology. There is much more area for enhancement and application. To grasp the edge of self-balancing technology, we will have to implement a lot of exploration and study. Just a few years back, we had not even believed that hover boards or other self-balancing vehicles, devoid of handles, could be balanced.
Now, you can see numerous latest models that are even within your means. I hope that this piece cleared things up for you when speaking of self-balancing technology. Just wait and you are likely to see the bursting scope of these gadgets in near future. Be that as it may, from what we can see now the future seems to be a lot more fascinating and exciting!!
China has taken one huge leap in the search for alien life after it moved on the world’s major radio telescope. The hunt for alien life simply got bigger. The world’s biggest radio telescope has been switched on – and in progress looking for aliens. But it also assists as China’s giant hope for possibly receiving a message from aliens.
The wok is the world’s leading single-dish radio telescope, and it formally began operating on Sunday 25th September, supplemented by triumphant national television coverage, subsequently more than five years duration of construction. One success for the project would be receiving the kind of energy signal that would be directed by different civilisation called aliens deep into space.
The telescope will be attending out for the gravitational waves, radio discharges from stars and galaxies – and any type of signs of intellectual extra-terrestrial life approaching from deep in the universe. The project bears the potential to search for many strange objects to better comprehend the derivation of the universe and increase the global hunt for the alien life. After an early stint scrutinizing into deep space, the telescope will be let out to astronomers hopeful to detect emblems of alien life.
These astronomers compensate for hours on telescopes about the world and devote their time attending to the static of space. They are hopeful that if an alien civilization is in existence it is communicating through radio waves which can be directly detected by the telescope. The telescope will be utilized to penetrate deep into space to support unlock the mysteries of the formation of the universe and mainly about alien life.
Even if the signal is tremendously weak of distant, the telescope would be capable to detect it. The innovation would be competent to answer a long-lasting question about whether or not we alone exist in the universe. Many scientists consider there are other civilizations, but there is no indication of a single one till date. This problem is recognised as the Fermi Paradox, the indication that the universe is so huge there should be other intelligent life out there existing, but for some poorly assumed cause, we could not communicate with it. The telescope, which is in a grand but impoverished portion of Guizhou Province, symbolises China’s plans to grow as a scientific power.
The dish is prepared of 4,450 complexly positioned triangular panels and has a gathering area of 2.1 million square feet, equivalent to nearly 450 basketball courts. At diameter of 1,640 feet, it will be coarsely double as sensitive as the world’s subsequent-biggest single-dish radio telescope, the Arecibo Observatory located in Puerto Rico, which is about 1,000 feet across. The telescope will capable to detect radio signals and potentially signs of life from far planets.
The £140 million cost project, calculating 500m in diameter, examines for signals from galaxies and stars and listens out for alien life. Built at such a huge cost, the telescope dwarfs the FAST radio telescope in China as the world’s biggest single-dish radio telescope, with better the sensitivity and a huge reflector. Telescope is intended to search for intelligent life outer of the galaxy.
The construction of telescope has caused in the displacement of more than 2,000 families and approximately 9,000 people, residing within three miles of the area of construction site. The government claimed that moving occupants from the area was essential in order to make a sound electromagnetic wave environment for the operation of telescope. Representatives handed each affected resident the compensation of 12,000 yuan (around $1,800), corresponding to about half the average salary for Chinese workers, previously relocating them in neighbouring locations.
The natural landscape offers the impeccable shape and size for the construction of the telescope. The ground too offers enough support for the enormous telescope. The absorbent soil forms an underground drainage system that shields the telescope.
More about China’s FAST radio telescope:
A monument of China’s commitment to the arena of astronomy, the telescope will be utilised to learn pulsars and discover for alien life in the universe. The Five hundred meter Aperture Spherical Telescope, FAST in abbreviation, is envisioned to project China’s technical determinations deep into the universe, carrying back dramatic findings and honours like Nobel Prizes. The Five Hundred Meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST) is prepared to operate after continuous five years of construction.
The massive dish is supposed to be accomplished of detecting even the furthest and weakest radio signals, thanks to its advanced technology. FAST will need radio silence within radius of 5 kilometers. With FAST, China has confirmed that they have invested in becoming a world lead in radio astronomy and the hunt for alien life. Researchers supposed FAST’s vital goal is to “learn the laws of the expansion of the universe”.
A team of researchers at FAST will share statistics and information with researchers at the Green Bank Telescope, located in the U.S. and the Parkes Observatory in Australia to improve search methods and clean the sky for any kind of signs of intelligent life such as aliens.
Held in a karst hollow in the hilly landscape of southwest China, the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope, known as FAST is recognised as a process identified by astronomers as “first light” -when a telescope unlocks its eyes and takes its first images of the universe.
Its distant location in China’s Guizhou province was one of 400 places scientists measured more than 10 years. The egg-cup like shaped valley is seamlessly sized and the nearby mountains give a shield against interference of radio frequency.
“FAST’s potential to determine an alien civilization will be five to ten times that of present equipment, as it can see beyond and darker planets,” as suggested by the director of the NAO Radio Astronomy Technology Laboratory, told Xinhua. FAST’s size contributes the telescope a significant advantage, boasting a field of visualisation twice that of Arecibo Observatory and 10 times higher sensitive than the Effelsberg 100-meter Radio Telescope, located in Germany.
This also implies that the search for life has grown even bigger, literally and symbolically as FAST’s reach will be extensive and farther as compared to older and slighter radio telescopes.

Consistent preventive maintenance is perhaps the single thing you can do as an automobile owner to keep your self-driven ride cheerful and save money on maintenance in the future. Though, not everyone decides on what preventive maintenance is, what you must do, and when you should do it.
Any travel enthusiasts who has ever worked on his automobile or paid a ton of money getting their automobile repaired will tell you not to neglect preventive maintenance. The fundamentals, like replacing your oil, inspecting your tire pressure, and getting planned inspections and work done are like getting regular surveys at the doctor. They keep you fit and give you—and the specialists—an opportunity to catch anything thoughtful before it becomes a key problem, that can save you thousands of money.
A long trip is a serious test for all self-driving travel enthusiasts for their automobile and even a small problem like a worn windshield wiper, out-of-balance tire can create a lot of troubles. Here are some checklists in vehicle maintenance for long travel.
Check your car owner’s manual:
Have a glance in your vehicle’s owner’s manual and do not forget to place it in your glove box.
Ensure your own inspection:
It is very basic, but provide your vehicle a once-over periodically so you catch whatever that seems out of the ordinary. It is necessary to make sure all your lights are operational. Check the air pressure in the tires each month or likewise. Doing so is worthy for your tires, acquires you better mileage, and saves you money in gas if you find that the pressure is off. Also, listen for any odd sounds, inside and outside. It is required to make sure your tires have sufficient tread. You can have a penny to do it, or aspect out for the wear indicators on the tire treads. If something is out of the ordinary, do not neglect it.
Under the hood:
First, it is required to check under the hood. Are there any leakages or are the batteries terminals unpolluted, does the drive belt look damaged out? If the belt seems cracked or dull, have it substituted before the travel. Check all the solutions.
Check engine oil:
To inspect the engine oil, park the vehicle on a level spot, warm up and halt the engine. Wait for a minute to let the oil to drain down the oil pan. Jerk the engine oil dipstick out, smear it with a fresh rag or a paper towel and insert it back completely.
Check the automatic transmission fluid:
A long travel with a full load will be additional exam for your automatic transmission. If your transmission fluid alteration is due rapidly, do it before a trip.
Have your tires rotated and balanced, and your alignment checked:
Your manual will convey you how regularly to do this, and it is vital to do to make sure your tires wear evenly and your vehicle drives effortlessly. You can make your tires—which are costly to replace all at once, take it from somebody who has done it many times—last much extended by getting them rotated and balanced. Your alignment is just as important.
Visually check engine coolant in the overflow tank:
Visually have a check for the engine coolant level inside the overflow tank. Your owner’s manual has these directions. The level must be between low and full marks. Do not expose the radiator cap or the pressurized overflow tank cap when the engine is warm.
Change your spark plugs:
If your spark plugs are damaged out or enclosed in buildup, your engine would not be working competently. That can charge you money in fuel for one, but it can even lead to a breakdown. It may sound intimidating, but in some circumstances checking and replacing them is not that problematic. If you do not feel like doing it by yourself, or it’s a large and complicated job for your vehicle, follow the recommendations of your manual and get them changed frequently—for most average copper spark plugs and vehicles, that is about 30,000 miles, however it differs – for example some iridium plugs can continue up to 100,000 miles.
Check the battery condition by having a look. If you perceive any acid leaks, blows or other damage, the battery must be substituted.
Confirm that the battery terminals are close-fitting and not corroded. Corroded terminals will create problems.
If it’s been a long time since you transformed your air filter, it might be a decent idea to change it before a travel trip. A dull air filter will make lack of power.
Substitute your windshield wipers when the view gets striped:
It may sound silly, but there are several people who simply ignored their wipers till they got them substituted as part of a bigger job. Wipers are inexpensive and easy to replace by you. Do not wait until you can hardly see through your windshield. Your visibility is most significant while driving, and you would not wait until you find an optometrist to clean your glasses, while you are at it, provide your windshield a decent cleaning inside and outside—if it’s too tough to see, the fault may be inside, not outside.
There is various travel type like Adventure travel, business travel, holiday travel, etc.
For adventure travel you should choose your automobile and its brand wisely as it should bear any sort of road tracks and travel problems. For business travel, the automobile to be used should be a very professional one without any sporty look or any cracks or damages as these may leave a negative impression on your business and deals. The food, the markets, the streets, the hustle, the bustle have their own attractive charm which probably no other city in the word can match. And the love for the city is not a new and novel thing with emperors of the past falling for the city’s charms too.
Delhi has been at the heart of India’s imaginations from a pretty long time.
Babur, who founded the Mughal Dynasty in India set Delhi as one of his capitals along with Agra and Lahore.
Babur was invited to attack the Lodi Kingdom (which ruled Delhi then) by one of its own governors who felt disaffected with the Lodi ruler. He was the ruler of Fergana, a pace in modern Uzbekistan, but upon seeing the strategic and geographical advantages that Delhi has to offer, he decided to settle here.
And Delhi seems to have moved light years ahead of its ancient capital city rivals.
India was a hunting ground for raiders from Afghanistan and associated areas with numerous pillages carried out by the barbarous raiders in order to fill their coffers (The Somnath temple is a great example).
But it was Babur who first made India in general and Delhi in particular his home.
And truly his descendants are more Indian than just foreign raiders with his grandson Akbar still recounted as one of the most influential and progressive Indian rulers.
The area around Delhi, particularly between the Aravalli mountain ranges in the south and west and the Yamuna River in the east has been quite active historically.
For examle Prithviraj Chauhan, one of India’s more celebrated warrior kings, used Lal kot as a defence against the Muslim invaders from Afghanistan and associated areas.
Under his rule the area came to be known as Qila Rai Pithora and is now known as Mehrauli.
Many other prominent settlements came up around the region as well.
The Tughaqabad Fort is a perfect example. It was built by Ghiyas ud-din Tughlaq in 1321 and stretches for about 6 km. Even though it was abandoned pretty quickly (within 6 years of being completed!), it shows us that the rulers from ancient times have had a strong pull towards Delhi.
And no single ruler can lay claim over the entirety of the city with it believed to be a combination of seven cities in itself.
Let’s look at them in a chronological order:
It is widely accepted among historians and archaeologists that the foundation for Delhi was laid by Anangpal Tomar of the Tomar Dynasty in 736 A.D.
It was intended to be used as a capital of many villages in and around the place. Lal Kot, as the area was called then, became a stronghold of the Tomars with Anangpal Tomar II fortifying the place.
After his death, his maternal grandson Prithviraj Chauhan, who was also the King of Ajmer, took control of Lal Kot and used it to halt the raids of Muhammed Ghori, defeating him 14 times before succumbing.
The Siri Fort, considered to be the second city of Delhi, was built during the reign of the Turkish ruler Ala-ud-Din Khalji to defend the city from Mongolian raiders.
It is said that the fort derives its name from the “Sir” – which means “head” in Hindi – of the 8000 Mongol soldiers who were killed in the war and whose heads were used as the foundation of the fort.
The Siri fort was built around 1303 A.D. and is the first to be entirely constructed by the Turks. Ala-ud-Din Khalji however was a man of quite some arrogance and a reputation for war mongering and had taken upon himself the title of ‘Sikander-i-Sani’ i.e. the second Alexander.
He also wanted to build a tower twice the height of the Qutub Minar which had been built about a century ago by Qutub-ud-Din Aibak. To make things chronologically simpler here, consider the following timelines. After Muhammed Ghori defeated Prithviraj Chauhan, the Rajput rule over Delhi ended and the Muslim rule began.
And after Muhammed Ghori’s death, Qutub-ud-Din Aibak grabbed control of the city even though he was born as a lowly slave and had gradually risen up through the ranks. He was succeeded by Iltutmish who gave way to a number of successive weak ruers before Delhi finally landed with the Khaljis.
Tughlaqabad, Jahanpanah and Ferozabad
After the Khalji’s reign it was now time for the Tughlaq rule. Ghiyas-ud-Din Tughlaq is credited to be the founder of the third city of Delhi i.e. Tughlaqabad.
He is said to be an excellent military commander who brought about a lot of reforms in his administration and rule. Upon his death he was succeeded by his son Jauna Khan who eventually took the name of Muhammed Bin Tughlaq. He built the subsidiary fort of Adilabad in 1325 A.D., five years after Tughlaqabad had been established.
He also walled in the suburbs between Qila Rai Pithora and the Siri Fort and gave the area the name of Jahanpanah, Refuge of the World. His reign however, was a turbulent one and earned him the reputation of being one of the worst rulers in Indian history.
When he had assumed the reign upon his father’s death, the Tughlaq Empire encompassed almost the entire North India but soon began disintegrating due to a multitude of reasons which primarily involved some bad decision making from the emperor. Muhammed Bin Tughlaq was notorious for continuously shifting back and forth the capital of his kingdom from Delhi to Daulatabad causing his subjects a lot of trouble and discomfort.
Moreover, he introduced copper coins instead of silver coins and since it was easy for the anti-social elements to forge the copper coins, the currency lost value and the treasury became incredibly weak.
Redemption finally came in the form of Feroz Shah Tughlaq, cousin of Muhammed Bin Tughlaq, who assumed kingship after the latter’s death. Historians refer to him as a great reformer and the international cricket stadium in Delhi is also in fact named after this emperor. Feroz Shah Tughlaq built Ferozabad in 1354 A.D. which is known as the fifth city of Delhi.
But he was not considered to have martial skills and thus was unable to conquer the lost area during Muhammed Bin Tughlaq’s rule. Finally when Timur invaded India in 1398, it sounded the death knell for the Tughlaq dynasty too and heralded the transition of Delhi into a Mughal city.
It was now the time of Mughal supremacy over India and Delhi. Babur had always thought of Delhi as his heirloom as his forefather Timur had annexed it.
So he was not the one to let go of the chance when Delhi was almost laid out to him in a platter. Nevertheless Babur’s reign was short lived and he was succeeded by Humayun who is credited with building the city of Dinpanah.
Purana Qila, which is the oldest fort in Delhi, is known to be the inner stronghold of the city of Dinpanah. Moreover Purana Qila has mythological significance too with the fort believed to be the place where Indraprastha, the Pandava’s capital, stood.
Humayun however lost his thrown to Sher Shah Suri in 1540 at the battle of Kanauj before regaining it back. He had been facing problems both from the inside and the outside and his opium addiction did not help matters.
Delhi however flourished under Sher Shah Suri too who was an excellent administrator and is credited with introducing the currency of Rupiya and the Grand Trunk Road. He lost his life in an accidental explosion caused by Gunpowder and the subsequent weak rulers handed over the reins of Delhi back to the Mughals.
Humayun won back the throne from the Suris but soon departed for the heavens leaving a 13 year old Akbar at the head of the vast empire. Akbar however proved to be up to the task and with assistance from Bairam Khan he became one of the most prolific rulers in the history of India.
It was his son Shah Jahan – which literaly means ruler of the world – who built the city of Shahjahanabad (now Old Delhi) and made it his capital. Also built was Taj Mahal is the nearby city of Agra during this time. But his expensive overtures soon depleted the Mughal coffers and he was succeeded by his orthodox Muslim son Aurangzeb.
Post Aurangzeb ended the Mughal empire’s control over the charismatic city of Delhi and it was now the turn of the British to shape the city into what it looks like today.
After passing into the hands of the English, the city’s landscape underwent drastic changes with about one third of the city being razed to the ground in 1858. And in December 1911, King George V shifted the capital of India from Calcutta to Delhi and Edwin Lutyens made responsible for most of the architectural designs and buildings in New Delhi.
The India Gate too is one such masterpiece from Lutyens and was built as a memorial for the 70000 Indian soldiers that laid down their lives in World War I fighting for the British Empire.
After the announcement of Delhi as India’s capital the preparations for building a majestic city started with full force. Along with the India Gate some other important structures during this period of time are the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the North and South Blocks of the Secretariat and a major portion of the Parliament.
It is pretty evident from its history that the city has a knack of overthrowing the occupants of its thrones. Be it from the ancient times of the Suris and the Mughals or in the current times when a young and dynamic political party manages to overthrow the party that had laid our country’s foundations! Delhi was, is and will remain the heart of India, politically, geographically and culturally.
Every paradigm shift begins here as should be for a nation’s capital. And it has had its fair share of controversies too. Be it ranking on the top of the most polluted cities in the world or being labelled as unsafe for girls, Delhi seems to be riding a wave perennially witnessing the highest of highs and the lowest of lows.
Delhi seems to have a personality. A song from the movie Delhi 6 talks about the city being a “mehfil” rather than a combination of bricks and mortar.
Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru aptly summed up the feeling about Delhi “Even the stones of Delhi whisper in our ears of the ages of long ago and the air we breathe is full of dust and fragrance of the past, as also of the fresh and piercing winds of the present.
The traditions of millennia of our history surround us at every step and the procession of innumerable generations passed before our eyes”.
The development of a country depends on the initiatives taken by its citizens. We have to fix certain milestone before starting the real process of development. It will be great if we fix 2030 as a milestone and make the necessary plans to reach there.
A clear picture of how India will look in the year 2030 will help us in apprehending the necessary steps to be taken now.
The vision created by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam for the year 2020 will miss the train and the year should be pushed to 2030. Some of the perspectives on the looks of India in the year 2030 in terms of its military, technology, power, money, development and other aspects are discussed below:
Indian defense in 2030
The stability of a country greatly depends on the military strength it has garnered through centuries.
I can see India being placed among the top 5 military prowess in the year 2030. If we look into the past Indian military had played a major role in World War I and II; this legacy will reach its epitome in the year 2030.
At present, the Indian army has an active strength of 1.3 million and a reserved strength of 2.1 million. In the year 2016-2017, the country was ranked among the top five world armies is considered as a vital land combat force.
With the active involvement of BJP Government India will be seen as the top land army in the year 2030.
By improving the combat and tactical techniques, replacing old equipment and weapons with new advanced one and by addressing the major lacunae it can reach the top spot in coming 14 years.
One of the major advantages for India is its rising young population which will help in increasing the count for Indian army.
It has to surpass only two giants namely China and the USA to become unbeatable.
The growing manpower of India will definitely help India to surpass the other countries in terms of strength by 2030.
For technology and war weapons, we are dependent on USA and France but the “Make in India” initiative will make the country self-sufficient in manufacturing defense products by 2030.So by the targeted year, we will be producing our state of art equipment for the military.
For the safety in the air, the country has largely depended on the Indian Air force.
By the year 2030, this wing of defense will be counted as the top 3 Air force in the world. It has to compete with countries like Russia and Israel to get into the circle of top 3 lists.
The Air force of Israel is being considered as a very good combat force and no countries would like to mess with such a strong Air force.
As per the new procurement policies of the defense department, it is being planned to procure around 400 fighter planes till 2030.
Until the target year, we will be able to include the best fighter planes like F-35, F-22, and Dassault Rafale, which are being used by the best Airforce fleet in the world.
HAL or Hindustan Aeronautical Limited is leading from the front by helping the country in becoming self-reliant in producing own aircraft.
By 2030 the involvement of foreign players and the Indian state of art technology manufacturing agencies like DRDO and HAL will be steering as the backbone of Indian defense sector.
With a coastline of more than 6,100 km, the herculean task of the Indian Navy is really tough and remarkable.
The day is not far when we will be equipped with 15,000-ton ships like US Zumwalt , Izumo class destroyer and roar into the vast ocean of opportunities in the coming decade end of 2030. Equipped with the best flight carriers, guided missiles, and advanced radars will become India’s pride in the coming years.
Not only on the sea but we will be guarding below the sea surface with deadly and fast submarines like Seawolf class, Granula class, and Virginia class.
Neighboring countries like China and Pakistan will think twice before challenging our defense in 2030.
Indian Economy 2030
The economy of India saw a new sunrise after liberalization policy in the year 1991. Under the leadership of former Prime Minister P.V Narasimha Rao and Finance Minister Manmohan Singh the noble initiative was started.
Due to better policies and the country’s quest to emerge as a leading economy in the world, India opened its market to foreign investors. India would be a developed country by 2030 with proper implementation of economic goals.
According to predictions of some of the leading newspapers like Economic time, India will be the 3rd largest economy by the year 2030.
In comparison to China, India is moving at a slower pace but some economists believe India will surpass the Dragon by 2050.
The growth rate of GDP or Gross Domestic Product annually of India in the year 2000 was 3.8 %; in the year 2010 was 10.3 %; so as per the prediction this may go up by the year 2030.
Even the per capita income will see a rise by 2030 and is estimated to reach USD 3000 on an average. It can be seen as a developed nation catering to welfare and development of the entire citizen.
China is expected to jump to the 1st spot by the year end 2030 being followed by the USA. The projected economy of India in the year 2030 will be approximately USD 10,000 billion.
The Indian economy will be retaining the top spot among the Commonwealth nations by the targeted year.
Even it will be far superior to some of the European counterparts like France and Italy. The day is not far when India will be counted among the elite G8 members.
India was ahead of China in the year 1970 in terms if economic conditions but the Dragon nation left India behind in the year 1980 and still growing at a faster rate.
Some of the European nations are witnessing a slowdown in their economy and may continue to see in coming years.
Indian GDP is shared by Agriculture and allied, Industry and Services. At present, the Services sector is the vital contributor to Indian GDP and is believed to contribute by the end of next decade.
It can be considered as a major boost for employment directly or indirectly. By contributing more than 52 % to the GDP of India, service sector is considered to be a boon for coming years.
Whereas, the contribution of Agriculture has decreased to mere 16 % and that of Industry is 31 %.
By the beginning of 2030, the statistics might be different as Industrial sector is seen as an attractive zone for investors and is crucial for improving the economy of India.
For the successful sustenance of Indian economy, the CAD or Current Account Deficit should be minimized.
This can be achieved by increasing the exports and decreasing the imports. The Information technology sector is considered as a boon for the Indian export industry.
The foreign currency reserves will see an increase from USD 368 billion in 2016 to USD 600 billion by the year 2030.
India will be one of the leading economies in the world by the year 2030.
Indian Technology in 2030
There was a time when people used to plan their next holidays for months long.
Now, with the advent of modern technology Indians can book holidays to any part within India or abroad with the help of their fingertips.
India has come a long way in terms of technology by sending Chadrayaan-1 to Moon and that too within a tight budget. How can we forget India as the harbinger for software technology?
India is advancing towards the new decade on the shoulders of technology.
The advent of driverless cars will be a common thing by 2030 with some precautionary measures.
Indian automobile majors will be manufacturing more electric cars and solar powered cars as the availability of petrol and diesel will be a major issue by 2030.
The technology will see a major breakthrough with the introduction of an efficient public transport system.
Metro trains will be more often used as public transport for bulk transportation in a short time.
Bullet train technology will be successfully implemented in some of the busy routes by then.
In terms of technology, India will be competing with its giant in neighbor, China by developing the most indigenous and sophisticated technology. It has been estimated by the beginning of 2030 India will become a processing center for VFX or visual effects and surpassing the American technology in this domain.
Many Hollywood directors will be making a beeline for our VFX experts. In terms of information technology, we will be the first choice throughout the world. Slowly India will become the preferred headquarter for all the technology giants.
The data charges will be an affair of minimal charges because the telecom technology is changing day a by day.
Due to the increase in the number of mobile manufacturers and telecom operators, the competition will be so much that the data charges may become negligent by 2030.
Every house will be connected to the internet as the Government of India has already started converting some of the places into free wi-fi zone.
The Indian medical tourism is already a game changer in the field of medical sciences. By the use of advanced and sophisticated medical equipment and world class doctors, we will be trying to improve the healthcare facility for the citizens of India.
Gone are the days when we had to stand in a queue to meet a doctor as by using the user-friendly apps we can just meet the doctor by coordinating through apps.
The doctor to patient ratio of 1: 1700 will be reduced to 5: 1000 as more and more medical colleges are coming up.
The medical science in India will be so advanced by 2030 that we will be catering not only to homeland India but also to international patients from the UK, USA, and Africa.
User-friendly sensors will help the farmers to get the real time data and be prepared for the next step to be taken.
The remote sensing satellites launched by ISRO or Indian Space Research Organization will be helping the farmers by alerting them to arrival for a natural calamity.
The Indian farmers will be using technology for the betterment of agricultural sector. Thus by 2030 India will be a tech savvy country and a pioneer in research and development.
Indian population 2030
As the global scenario is changing at a faster rate, so by 2030 India being a developed country will be able to solve some major issues.
The population of India in the year 2000 was 1.042 billion and it increased to 1.206 billion by 2010. So, by 2030 the population of India will be around 1.6 billion and will be a mammoth challenge for the country.
According to estimation the population density per square km in India will be 500.The problems that will face due to such a huge population will be like providing food, housing facilities, healthcare and much more.
These problems will be solved by 2030 only if we take the necessary steps now.
The whole of India will be covered with high-rise buildings and will be expanding vertically rather than horizontally.
To accommodate the huge population India may start building houses on the seafront without compromising the ecological balance.
India will be dependent on a new Green revolution so as to cater the hunger of 1.6 billion people. India will be exporting skilled manpower to every corner of the world to reduce the stress of employment to its youth.
The humongous task to make India developed by 2030 is to its citizens. They have to make sacrifices today so that the future generation can enjoy a better future.
As the ideal time has arrived to make a plan by consulting experts of different fields and start acting immediately.
All these efforts will help Indians to reach the milestone of 2030 to place India as a developed nation in the world map.

What is the secret recipe for success? Is it having a high IQ?
No, having a high IQ is not enough.
It might even prove to be an obstacle in some cases!
For people with high IQ everything is relatively easier. But people with an average IQ have to struggle through various concepts which might not always be a bad thing.
There is no improvement without any struggle and more often than not people with higher IQs are unwilling to put in the hard yards as they are so used to good things happening to them so easily which many a times prevents them from reaching their true potential.
Hard Work beats talent when talent does not work hard.
The story of the rabbit and the tortoise is not so famous without reason and teaches a valuable life lesson.
There is no limit to what humans can achieve. The sky is the limit. We even have people reaching out for achievements beyond the sky. Take for example Elon Musk. He owns Tesla, SolarCity and SpaceX, three companies which are pushing at the frontiers of human imagination and achievement.
For a layman it might appear that he just got lucky with his ideas and execution. But someone who has been closely following the man would know that living on the edge is a habit for this man.
His life goal now is to build a colony on Mars so that the human race can survive even if some catastrophe hits planet Earth.
Although this might seem eccentric to most people, people like Musk are who are carrying the human race forward.
The Wright Brothers were thought to be mad when they were inventing the aeroplane.
Galileo was called mad when he claimed that the Earth was not the centre of the Universe.
Anyone who does not think within the narrow confines of our society is deemed to be mad but there is a method to their madness which every person can inculcate in their lives.
These people dream of something and have the knack of actually building it in reality. For doing this, is required the ability to slog it out day and night along with a dash of creativity. It is a well-known fact that Elon Musk has been putting in 100 hour work weeks since the past 20 years and it is not uncommon for him to go two to three days without any sleep when doggedly hounding some project.
The recipe for success has three ingredients namely Intelligence, Hard Work and Luck.
Let us look at all three individually.
Intelligence is not just about your IQ levels however. Professor Richard Muller who is a renowned Professor of Physics at UC Berkley believes there are a lot of other factors that determine how successful a person becomes such as:
Intelligence in understanding complex phenomena: This is what is attributed to business and military leaders who have to make correct decisions based on a lot of complex information that might not present a clear path ahead. Warren Buffet says that
“If you have a 150 I.Q., sell 30 points to someone else. You need to be smart, but not a genius to be successful.”
Artistic intelligence is another form of intelligence which IQ cannot measure.
How did Mozart know what symphonies to create? How did the Beatles create some of the best rock songs? This type of intelligence is clearly different and cannot be attributed to IQ.
According to Professor Muller, this one is one of the most important types of intelligence. The ability to influence people, to read their body languages and to deduce if they are trying to fool you or are honest with you help in negotiating your way through rough waters.
This is quite related to the complex phenomena intelligence. But this is more about the “execution” part while the first point was about the “understanding” part. As important understanding complex phenomena and determining a set course of action is, having the ability to actually carry it out is a completely different ball game and requires an entrepreneurial spirit.
Hard Work is something which everyone can do but very few people actually do. Nevertheless this is another crucial element in any successful story.
Most of us are familiar with Thomas Alva Edison’s story of how he invented the light bulb. He failed approximately 10,000 times before he made a model that actually worked yet he never dreamt of giving up.
There are no shortcuts to success and people who believe otherwise are just deluding themselves.
As was mentioned earlier Elon Musk has been consistently pumping in 100 hour work weeks for the past two decades even though he made huge amounts of money during the dotcom bubble. But instead of resting on his laurels, he decided to invest that money further and continue on his path of success.
Hard Work thus is not a one-time thing to do; instead it needs to be ingrained in one’s life. Moreover, hard work need not be viewed as a negative thing always as is the general perception. People are generally averse to working very hard but this will not be the case if someone is working on the things he/she loves. Work then becomes pleasure and hard work does not remain a hurdle anymore!
Luck has a huge role in life in either a positive or a negative way. It can propel someone to the stars or can push someone down to the depths. But generally people are loathe accepting the importance of luck in their success but are quick to point it out in their failures. This is because it undermines their hard work and determination that they have put in and people do not like accepting the fact that they are not always in control of their lives and in shaping it.
Nassim Taleb who is a renowned scholar even has a theory for it named “black swan”.
The black swan theory or the theory of black swan events is a metaphor that describes an event which comes as a surprise, has a major effect and is often inappropriately rationalised after the fact with the benefit of hindsight.
Basically what it says is that successful people generally feel that they were destined to success and often have a story which tells about their roadmap. But they fail to assign the appropriate amount of importance of luck and probability.
However, it is also true that fortune favours the brave (not just philosophically but also statistically) and one needs to perennially be an optimist and hardworking in order to achieve the best results in life.
Juggling through all these things is what successful people habitually do. However regularly living up to one’s potential is not that every does (not that it can’t be done).
Not everyone is born intelligent but intelligence can be garnered along one’s life too. There are certainly some things that can be kept in mind for getting the most out of every situation.
Inculcating these thumb rules automatically makes someone intelligent!
Do mistakes. This advice is the most common advice to be meted out. However learning from them is more important. Thus a better way to phrase this would be to “learn from your mistakes”.
A positive attitude towards mistakes allows them to be corrected rapidly leaving you much wiser than before.
Being curious is a natural thing for humans and this is what has propelled the human race. But the downside of doing new things is that there definitely will be failures along the way. However do not be scared of falling. Be scared of not trying. In the end people only regret the chances that they did not take.
Put yourself in the right environment. One of the most important decisions we make in life is who we choose to be around. It is said that a person is the average of the 5 people closest to him or her. Thus it is paramount that these five people always affect you in a positive manner. The right environment also entails garnering the right information.
Following the right blogs or the right people (again) ensures that you always have the right ideas in your mind. This in turn guarantees that your thought process is on the critical path always.
Having the right attitude helps in the bad as well as the good times. There is quite a famous quote which says “The only handicap in life is having a bad attitude”. This true to quite a large extent. One might not get the required results even after putting in the required efforts. This should not lead to getting frustrated and giving up.
A quote from the movie Rocky Balboa here aptly sums up the point being made “Life is not about how hard you can hit. It is about how hard you can get hit and still keep moving forward.”
As has been pointed earlier even though a person is intelligent and has worked hard, it is not necessary that he or she will succeed (courtesy luck).
But what that person can inculcate is a right attitude. Luck will not always be on the wrong side just as it is not always on the right side. It is a statistical thing, just a probability, and one should not worry too much about it. But a bad attitude will definitely sink your ship.
The best way to stay motivated is by looking up to people who have achieved some big things in life. Following their lives shows that they tread a treacherous path but never gave up on their willingness to succeed. Here are 5 such people:
Dhirubhai Ambani: When Dhirajlal Hirachand Ambani died, the then Prime Minister of India Sri Atal Bihari Vajpayee observed “The country has lost iconic proof of what an ordinary Indian fired by the spirit of enterprise and driven by determination can achieve in his own lifetime”. Dhirubhai Ambani even has a film loosely referring to his life in “Guru”. He founded Reliance Industries in 1966 and by the time of his death in 2002 was the richest person in India.
Warren Buffet is another shining example of a self-made billionaire and has earned a majority of his wealth investing in the stock market and definitely is the most successful investor in the world currently.. He is consistently ranked in the Top 5 wealthiest person’s in the world but still lives in modest surroundings and drives a plain Cadillac. Despite a net worth in Billions he has simple tastes but this can be attributed to the fact that he is a value investor and looks for the maximum utility in everything he does. Nevertheless here is a very wise person who everyone should look up to and try to emulate.
Elon Musk is a typical example of someone bulldozing through life. When he wants something, he gives everything to achieve it. And he never wants small things. As has been told earlier his current goal is to set up a human colony in Mars. He earned $180 Million from PayPal’s acquisition by eBay and then proceeded to invest $100 Million in SpaceX, $70 Million in Tesla and $10 Million in Solar City. He is the perfect example to teach people to “give it everything” in whatever they do.
A.P.J. Abdul Kalam
The more is said about this man, the less it seems to be able to capture his persona. He is known as India’s missile man and was probably the best liked President India has ever had. He was instrumental in a number if ISRO’s projects and has played an influential role in bringing India’s space program to the world class level it now finds itself at. Perennially humble and soft spoken, here is a person whose life is a lesson in hard work and humility.
India’s current Prime Minister was a “chaiwallah”. But his tremendous work ethic and the willingness to forever improve his skills have enabled him to become the most powerful person in India. Even at the age of 65 he is known to sleep only 3 to 4 hours every day so that he can devote more time towards serving his country. He had famously remarked that he is going to be the Prime Sevak (servant) of the nation rather than the Prime Minister and has been performing true to his words.
These persons while creating awe in people also create a sense of purpose at the same time. Looking at them one can deduce that the only thing preventing us from reaching for the skies is ourselves.
Thus one needs to keep growing through life and not just plodding on through it like it is a burden.
The world needs changing and you can be the one to bring about the next big change. However as Mahatma Gandhi famously quipped “Charity begins at home”!
“The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep” says one of the paragraphs in a poem by the famous poet Robert Frost.
It shows the mental state of a person who longs for some rest but is driven on by his ambition and feels he still has a long way to go before he rests.
Even though such resolve is admirable, it is not advisable. Doctors routinely advise people to sleep between 6-8 hours every day and claim that people sleeping less than 6 hours are doing themselves a disservice and are under an illusion that they achieve more by sleeping less.
They even claim that going 18 hours without sleep puts your body in a “wakeful drunken state”. How much a person should sleep has been a subject of quite some debate. While some people can manage in a minimum amount of time, others need to sleep for longer periods to perform at their best.
For example India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi sleeps only for about 4 hours daily and has been doing so for quite a long time while the famous singer Mariah Carey says “I have got to sleep for 15 hours to sing the way I want to”.
This is about double the amount of the recommended time and about 4 times what Modi sleeps. However Elon Musk (who is arguably the most productive man in the world) sleeps for about 6 hours a day while Bill Gates (you know who that is) recommends 7 hours of sleep every day.
It is quite clear that the length of sleep time differs from a person to person but what does not differ is the need for a good sleep.
Sleep is a necessity not a luxury. Sleeping less does not allow the body to recuperate from the previous day and hence might make the upcoming day unproductive so that the whole point of sleeping less becomes pointless.
It is a very noticeable observation that when a person is short on sleep, he/she has a higher than normal craving for sugary food. This is because the body is in an immediate need for a boost of energy and nothing provides this better than sugar.
Thus even though it might sound counter intuitive, sleep deprivation is directly linked to overeating and weight gain. There are two hormones namely Ghrelin and Leptin which signal the brain that you are hungry or whether you are full respectively.
On sleeping less, the Ghrelin levels go up hence increasing the need for more food. There are numerous more explicit harmful effects as well.
Fatigue and lethargy are the foremost among them. Irritability, inability to cope with stress, reduced creativity and problem solving skills along with concentration problems are quite observable when the body is not rested properly.
Prolonged exposure to a lack of sleep also reduces the body’s immunity making people more prone to infectious diseases like cough and cold.
How much time one spends sleeping is a less important issue than the importance of a sound sleep, As mentioned earlier Narendra Modi and many others do by sleeping for 4 hours a day but in his own words “Doctors tell me I need to sleep for 5 hours but I sleep for maximum 3-4 hours yet, I get a very sound sleep.”
As Mr. Modi points out, getting deep sleep is more important. Deep sleep is the time when the body recuperates and builds up energy for the next day.
This has a major impact on health, the immune system and stimulating growth and development. It is not just the amount of time spent on the bed sleeping.
The quality and efficiency of that rest period needs to be high as well so that you wake up completely refreshed the next morning. Adhering to the following points should make this process easier and more productive:
Having a consistent sleep-wake schedule significantly increases the duration of deep sleep. This schedule should even be followed on weekends as much as possible. The human body is slow to adapt but it does eventually adapt and it does that well. Once the body gets accustomed to a fixed time for sleep, it should not be meddled with too much.
Snacks before bedtime should be light. Additionally, if a person smokes or drinks, it is for the best to limit them before bed. The body’s metabolism needs to be at a low while going to bed to give you the most refreshing sleeps.
If you have trouble sleeping at nights, avoid sleeping in other times of the day. And if you fail even then, it means your body isn’t getting the amount of exercise required to make it feel tired by the end of the day. Exercising for half an hour or so should do the trick in such situations. The body has to be tired in order to rest. Also, in case of problems of insomnia, sleeping pills and other prescription drugs should be avoided as much as possible. Sleeping is a very natural thing and will come back to you sooner or later. Have patience.
Make sure the bedroom is dark, cool and quiet. Listening to music and falling asleep while the music is playing might lead you into believing that you are getting a good night’s sleep but that is not the case. The brain is still working even when you are asleep and its functions need to be minimised during sleep time so that it gets the maximum amount of rest. This won’t be happening if the music continues to play in your headphones when you are asleep. Even though you might not realise it, the brain is processing the sound. And likewise a dark room ensures that there is no light to disturb your brain’s rest time and a cool room makes sure you have a comfortable time. Remember that minimising the number of tasks that your brain performs during sleeping is the key to good sleep.
Sir Isaac Newton slept for 2 hours a day. Thomas Alva Edison didn’t even sleep because he felt it was a waste of time and took power naps instead.
However such sleeping schedules are not recommended for mere mortals and these people certainly were exceptions as their work shows. Since they slept so less it is not possible to categorize them as early risers or late night workers.
Nevertheless the phrase “early bird catches the worm” could not have been far from true for humans though it might be true for worm catching birds.
Too many people believe that starting early is what they have to do to become more productive. Elon Musk (again) proves such early riser propagators wrong.
He is known to be a night guy and regularly goes to bed only by about 1 A.M. in the night. This however does not mean that everyone should follow his lead and forcefully keep oneself awake till 1 A.M.
One size never fits all and a person needs to determine for himself/herself if they are a morning or a late night person. There are some other myths related to sleep too:
8 hours of sleep is an absolute necessity Nothing could be further away from the truth. Everyone needs different amounts of sleep depending on their age, gender and the amount of work they do. In fact it might vary even day to day! So while some days sleeping less than 8 hours might do, other days you might want to sleep more. “You know you are getting enough sleep when you don’t feel like nodding off in a boring situation in the afternoon” says New York psychologist Joyce Walsleben.
Sleeping more than the required amount of time does no harm. How the sleep lovers wish it to be true! But it isn’t. There have been studies which demonstrate that people who slept more than 8 hours a day died younger than people who slept between 6-8 hours. However they are yet to ascertain if sleeping more is the cause or is an effect of some other malady. Similar to under-sleeping, oversleeping negatively affects our circadian rhythm (biological clock in simpler terms) as well. People who habitually sleep more maybe suffering from hypersomnia – i.e. when oversleeping turn into a medical problem (the inverse of insomnia). There are a lot of side effects in such a case too like anxiety, irritability, a lack of motivation and energy, appetite and memory loss. These are obviously in chronic cases and you should not become too worried if you have just spent half the day sleeping. However, go out and do something productive instead of sleeping through the day.
Sleeping more in the weekends can make up for the lost sleep during the week. Fasting for a day does not mean you eat double the amount of your usual diet the next day, doesn’t it? So is the case with sleep contrary to what most people would like to believe. In fact binge sleeping on weekends upsets the circadian rhythms and makes it even harder to get restful sleeps. Our body likes consistency.
Even though our body likes consistency, we might not always be able to do justice to the need.
Sometimes our requirements force us to change our sleeping schedules. Long international flights are the best example related to the disruption of the circadian rhythm.
Also, some people might need to work in shifts and might need to adjust to the routine in a very short time. There are a few things that can be done in such cases to ease the transition process:
Try to bring about the change as gradually as possible. For example if you normally wake up at 8 A.M. and want to get up at 5 A.M. wake up half an hour early for each successive day until you reach the time you wish to wake up.
However, people might not have time for such gradual changes. In such cases fast for 12 hours before your desired waking time. Harvard researchers have found out that when you eat affects your biological clock. Also, avoid consuming stimulants like coffee, cigarettes or alcohol at least 5 hours before your planned time to go to bed.
Even though it might sound counter intuitive, avoid heavy exercises one or two hours before you plan to sleep. People believe that this should make them tired enough so that they will fall right asleep after being tired from the exercise. However heavy exercises have the potential to disrupt your circadian rhythm. Light stretching and light exercises like walking may prove beneficial here.
As has been mentioned previously, one should always aim for the amount of sleep that allows them to be fresh throughout the day.
People might make up for the lack of sleep by consuming a lot of caffeine but prolonged abstinence from sleeping is detrimental to health.
There are numerous cases of people falling over unconscious due to exhaustion even though they “felt perfectly fine”. The body is a temple and the temple needs repair work after the ordeals of the day. Sleep matters a lot.
Due to increased understanding about sleep we can now make more informed decisions. Organisation leaders can give a boost to their organisations’ productivity by controlling people’s work timings hence improving their general mood and health.
That being said, sleeping is not what one should be always worried about. You might get motivated seeing examples of successful people who sleep less and start believing that this is the only way to success but there are an equal number (or probably more) of successful people who do not compromise on their sleep and even preach the good effects of a deep sound sleep.
If you can are going throughout the day full of energy and verve and fall asleep like a baby as soon as you hit the bed then you are doing exactly the right things. But if you aren’t there are a few changes in your lifestyle you should be considering.
In today’s age of over inflated success stories where everyone is looking to get rich quick and does not have time to take a single misstep in the wrong direction, failure has become synonymous with incompetence. If you fail to get excellent marks in your academics, you are a failure; if you do not get into the choicest of colleges, you are a failure; if you do not get a job in a reputed company, you are a failure or of you do all the above and forget to have a life, you are a failure. Thus, instead of looking at failures as stepping stones to something bigger, our generation has starting dreading the f word. But there is a term in economics called as “opportunity cost”. Briefly what it means is that there is a hidden cost for everything that you do even though it is for free. For example even if you are taking a leisurely walk in the park, there is an opportunity cost in terms of the time being utilised in walking which could have been put on something more productive. Similarly there is a huge opportunity cost with NOT FAILING, i.e. you do not get to learn.
There is a famous quote which says “We learn from Failure, Not from Success”, and most of the people whom you consider successful would agree with this conclusion. Whether we like it or not failure is the building block of the path to our dreams. One must not be afraid of failing but be afraid of not learning from those failed outcomes since experience is the best teacher that a person has over his lifetime. Many successful people would have you believe that they have never failed in life to give themselves an aura of invincibility but either these people are lying or they aren’t what they are trying to portray and have not faced the test of times. To prove these points in even greater detail here is a list of 10 highly successful people who had to sail through rough waters to get to where they eventually got.
Thomas Alva Edison
Thomas Alva Edison is the embodiment of failing your way to success. Edison has over a thousand patents to his name out of which only a few namely the light bulb, the phonograph and the motion camera hit off with the public’s imagination. But he was never the one to get disheartened with any of his failures as he never believed that any effort put into constructing something is wasted effort. He looked at his failures like stepping stones to success. In his own words he says about his failures that “I have not failed. I have just found 10000 ways that won’t work.” Now that is some extra ordinary level of commitment and hard work that the man put into his work. Also famous for propagating the use of Direct Current he wasn’t a bright performer at school with his teachers exclaiming that Edison was too stupid to learn anything! Imagine saying that to one of the greatest inventors of all times! Moreover he did not quite succeed at the regular jobs that he took up and was fired from his first two jobs for being “non-productive”. However his early fascination for chemical experiments and mechanical engineering paved the way for some tremendous feats and his company General Electric (Yes! He was a founder!) is one of the biggest companies in the world and is continuously innovating across a wide a variety of fields, staying true to its founder’s character. It is said that behind every great man there is a woman and so was the case with Edison too. His mother pulled him out of school where the teachers didn’t understand Edison’s calibre and began teaching him herself. And it was because of his mother’s efforts and how whole heartedly she believed in him that he did not want to disappoint her that he went on to do such great things.
Nobody needs an introduction to Bill Gates, who has been ranking as the richest man on this planet for a long time. The American is the founder of the software giant Microsoft and revolutionised the technology sector. However what many people do not know is that before Microsoft, Bill Gates had to suffer failure in business. Bill Gates’s is different from other successful failures in that he had well to do parents but he did not have to rely on them for his businesses. And although his business acumen is second to no one in this world, his very first business was a failure. He, along with Paul Gilbert and Paul Allen had started a company named Traf-O-Data whose objective as the name suggests was to create traffic data, particularly create reports for roadway engineers from traffic data. They did manage to generate some income from the raw traffic data but when they tried to get the machine into the county official’s attention, it got a pretty cold response and their business idea flopped. This however did not discourage Gates who went on from one learning curve to another and used the knowledge gained out of this failure to put together Microsoft. And we all know what happened after.
Disney has had the most profound influence on most of the millennials and continues to hold sway on the present generation of kids through its various cartoons and theme parks. However the iconic Mickey Mouse was born out of the vision and dedication of this man: Walt Disney. He used to work for a newspaper where the editor left no stone unturned in discouraging Disney at every chance he got and fired him off by saying that Walt “lacked imagination and no good ideas”. This was not to be the end of woes for Walt Disney though and he had to go through a string of failures. His first attempt at business ended up making him bankrupt. This might not sound like a huge blow upon just reading but it is enough to break the morale and hearts of a majority of people. By this time he was having some taste at success and his cartoon characters were gaining momentum and thus he ended up buying an animation studio named Laugh-O-Gram. But upon hiring salaried people to perform the multitude of tasks associated with managing a studio, Walt Disney found himself financially overwhelmed and the business incurred a lot of debt on its name. Eventually Walt Disney had to file for bankruptcy and moved over to Hollywood where he would go on to create history. Here is what Walt Disney has to say about failure: “I think it’s important to have a good hard failure when you’re young. Because it makes you kind of aware of what can happen to you. Because of it I’ve never had any fear in my whole life when we’ve been near collapse and all of that. I’ve never been afraid.”
Michael Jordan is considered by a majority of people as the greatest basketball player to have ever played the game. In fact his biography on the NBA website also says “By acclamation, Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time”. And though it is hard and controversial to give the tag of the greatest player to any individual, there are no two opinions that he was the most effectively marketed athlete and played a huge role in popularizing the NBA around the world. However such an iconic character has a failure story too! This came during his high school days. Michael was very competitive from his early childhood and used to compete in one on one intense matches in the back yard of his house with his elder brother Larry who used to dominate most of these matches. People then had the general idea that it would be his brother who went on to achieve great things and that Michael would forever remain in his brother’s shadows. And when the university basketball team was announced, Michael was dumbfounded to have been left out of the list and was assigned to the junior squad instead. But this only made him more determined to prove his coach wrong and led him to work even harder on his game. Michael Jordan has an interesting take on failure too. He says “I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game winning shot, and I missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
J. K. Rowling
J. K. Rowling is probably one of the most encouraging success stories to be inspired by. She is well known for the creation of the epic novel (now major movies) series Harry Potter in which she has woven a fantastical world of magical creatures and beings. The Briton’s creativity and outstanding story telling has won the hearts of a huge number of people across the globe. But to reach this level of success, she has had to suffer tremendously too. It is quite well known that Rowling came up with the idea of Harry Potter while she was travelling on a train from Manchester to London and she began her work earnestly soon after. However her mother passed away later that same year after battling Multiple Sclerosis for 10 years. She eventually got over this heartbreak and moved to Portugal in 1992 to teach English where she got married and had a daughter with a man. However the marriage did not have a rosy ending like the Harry Potter books and ended in divorce after which she moved to Scotland. At this point of time Rowling was an emotional mess. She was divorced, jobless and had the responsibility of a child dependent on her. She fell into depression and had to get by after signing up for government assisted welfare schemes. Moreover the Harry Potter script was rejected by 12 major publishing houses in England but was fortunately accepted by Bloomsbury which extended her a small advance to get her through her financial woes. In 1997 the book was published with only a 1000 copies being printed after which the book’s popularity spread like wildfire. Today Rowling has sold more than 400 million copies of her books.
If someone calls you an Einstein, it is taken to be as a compliment with the person is praising you for your intellect. Einstein is famous for his work on the theory of relativity and the mass energy equation which confounds scientists even to this day as to how he could think of such complicated theories. But Einstein did not begin speaking fluently until he was 9 years old causing his teachers to think he was slow. Moreover he was expelled from school for his rebellious nature and was refused admittance to the Zurich Polytechnic School. Even after graduating, Einstein had to do odd jobs in order to sustain himself. He says his father died believing that he was a complete failure. However after a while he found employment as a patent clerk from where he would take his love for maths from strength to strength and completely shake up how physicists looked at the world and its workings.
Lincoln is the most iconic of the Presidents that the United States of America has ever had. However before becoming the most powerful man of the country, Abraham Lincoln suffered a lot too. He has the unique embarrassment of leaving for the Black Hawk war as a captain in the army and returning as a private, which is the lowliest of the ranks. And this was not because of some fault on his part but due to unavoidable war time circumstances. The next year in 1833 Lincoln tried his hand at establishing a business and failed miserably at that too with the business flopping within no time. Subsequently he had to see through a string of political failures as well which included being defeated for Speaker in 1838, getting defeated for nomination of Congress in 1843 and then losing the renomination after getting elected in 1848, getting rejected for the post of Land Officer in 1849, Getting defeated for Senate, getting defeated for the post of Vice President in 1856 and getting defeated for the Senate in 1856 again before finally becoming the President in 1860. And in the meanwhile he had to suffer the loss of his dear wife following which he also went through a nervous breakdown. This is surely a long list of failures and sufferings for a man to endure but he emerged stronger and wiser from all his sufferings.
The Big B of Indian cinema made it big by delivering some super hit blockbusters since the 1970s and gained himself the title of an “Angry Young Man” by his portrayal of such characters in the movies. He has been nominated for the most number of times in a major acting category at Filmfare and is among the richest persons in the Bollywood industry today heading production houses, investing in companies and furthering his acting greatness by delivering multiple hits at the box office. Life however has not always been rosy for Bachchan. Many of his Indian fans would remember the life threatening injury that he suffered while shooting at the sets of the movie Coolie. He recovered from this physical injury only to be doused by financial ones during his 50s. When most people at this age look forward to live off their earnings, Amitabh Bachchan wasn’t one of them and he looked to further his ambitions by creating his company Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited (ABCL). However he stretched himself too thin with this venture and almost lost all that he had built up over the years. “In the year 2000, when the entire world was celebrating the new century, I was celebrating my disastrous fortune. There were no films, no money, no company, a million legal cases against and the tax authorities had put notice of recovery on my home”. He however recovered from this misfortune with his role in Kaun Banega Crorepati which became a household favourite and brought at his feet a host of endorsements thus saving the day for him.
Sylvester Stallone’s story seems to be taken right out of a rags-to-riches story book. His struggle begins right from the time he was coming into this world. His mother had labour complications while giving him birth and the obstetricians had to use two pair of forceps during his birth which accidentally severed a nerve in Stallone’s face causing paralysis in some parts. This is what gives him his trademark snarling face and a slightly slurred speech. He had to go through a lot of financial problems before his epic movie Rocky came into existence. Before the movie, he had moved to new York to pursue his dreams of making it big in the movie industry and was so broke that he had to sleep for three weeks at the New Jersey bus terminal. He even had to do a soft porn movie for which he was paid 200$ for two days of acting. He says “It was either do the movie or go rob someone”. Moreover, the lowest point in his life came when he had to sell his dog for $25; the dog had been his best and only friend for a long time. However one day while watching Muhammad Ali fighting, the idea for Rocky began to form in his mind and he set himself to work on its script. And even though the movie houses liked the script and offered him $325,000 for the movie, they were reluctant to let him act because of his “disabilities”. Sylvester Stallone however was not the one to budge and in the end got to act in his dream movie as the protagonist Rocky. And guess what he did with the movie that he got for Rocky? He tracked down the person to whom he had sold his dog and bought him back for about 500 times the money that he had originally received for him.
Henry Ford can be rightly called the father of the automobile industry and his Model T was the first car that became publically accepted and brought driving cars into the public’s imagination. His Model T went on to sell over 17 Million units and the American even receives a mention in most History school textbooks for this remarkable achievement. A lot of people are aware of this achievement but do not know that Ford went bankrupt twice! In 1989 at the age of 36 he formed his first company and named it the Detroit Automobile Company which had the backing of a renowned lumber Baron. Nevertheless the business could not be managed efficiently and led to the company incurring huge losses before going bankrupt. Two years later he started another company and named the Henry Ford Company but was ousted from this company leaving with the rights to his name. This company later became the Cadillac Automobile Company, another giant in the present day automobile industry. But Ford was not the one to give up on his dreams of having his own car company and with the Ford Motor Company and the introduction of the Model T, his fortunes changed for the good and he never looked back from there. Here is Henry Ford’s take on failure “Failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently”.
These examples clearly show that in order to succeed you must first be prepared to experience failure too. Failures should never deflate your motivation and derail you from your path but should be shaken off as soon as possible, with your efforts resuming with even greater vigour and with a clearer sense of direction.
A risk is something which is inbuilt in human beings. If it weren’t that, we wouldn’t have come to the lane in which we exist today.
Our ancestral human beings took the risk of rubbing two stones together and this lead to the invention of fire which has now become a common factor.
This precious point lead to the door of immense opportunities and possibilities, it makes us fearless, it develops us and it makes unknowingly, into the person we want to be.
Everyone has a goal in life, but simply having a goal is not enough, you should have the courage to pursue it.
A Frog in the well will never know what’s out there until and unless he has the courage and takes the risk to come out of the well.
The same implies to a man. If he is learning well and doing everything that he is supposed to do but is not taking a risk, then what is the use of all the learning and pursuing?
Nobody is going to push you to take a risk, you will take a risk when you really want it.
People are afraid of taking risks because hindrances might occur to them, the hindrance is something which is bound to happen when one takes a risk but the real challenge here is to have the ability to turn that hindrance into immense advantage and creation.
All the famous inventors, scientists, writers and businessman took the risk of taking a risk because they had faith in themselves, not only to succeed but also to face something which might be beyond their wildest dreams.
Some of the many famous personalities like J.K Rowling, Bill Gates, Beyonce, Vera Wang, Sylvester Stallone and Elon Musk took a risk and succeeded in their fields.
The struggles and successes of J.K Rowling are something to be thought about. Her first novel which was then called “Harry potter and the philosopher’s stone” saw many rude faces of rejection because nobody believed in magic and thought it to be something which involved sorcery, black magic and unfit for a children’s novel. She took the risk of sticking on to something she had faith in and that eventually paid off.
Sylvester Stallone’s movie is an inspirational one because he believed in himself. He wrote the script of the movie “ROCKY” and didn’t let go of that script until and unless he was acting as the main lead. This is what you need to do! To believe and climb the rock of utmost faith and possibilities.
Now the most important part in a risk is how to take a risk.
When you are excellent in something, you will know what are the pros and cons or the Nay and Aye of it. And when you decide to do something courageous, make sure to jot down all the points which might be disadvantageous if a risk is taken.
Compare the advantages and disadvantages of taking a risk and if you feel confident that it will make you walk a step further to your goals then it is well and good.
The beauty of it is that there is a hidden gem of success in it. You just have to believe in yourself. When taking a risk from the business point of view, you never know what fruit it might give you, have a little space of selflessness.
But don’t underestimate the power of pursuing something beyond your comfort level. It may take you to unimaginable heights but can also shatter you to to the similar depths, so be careful while taking a risk.
For example, In the morning, a bird goes in search of food with an empty belly but returns with a stomach full because it had faith in himself and also not being scared to do something and a bird is similar to a human being i.e if you want to taste the spice of success and goals then being in a stagnant position will do no good to you, I say that take a risk, it is an inbuilt human tendency to take a risk.
Now to diversify the point about how to take risks in life to achieve major life goals, it is to be noted that, it also depends on which career you are well versed in. We can take inspiration from the persons who took risks in their diversified careers.
1) If you are in the business track then painting with an unknown color requires a lot of experience, research and also a know-how of the business world and the marketplace, then only you can be assured that you will have a good profit for your business.
2)From an artist’s point of view, he might take an unknown step into an unknown alley to experiment with a new perspective because an artist’s mind is a vast book of unexpected spontaneity, he might do anything he wants in his field. So a risk taken by artists will result in creation and invention of a masterpiece which will make him achieve his goals. So take a risk in something which you believe.
3) To take inspiration of how to take a risk and achieve your major goal in life, the best example I can give is that of inventors and scientists, who spilled some new chemicals into the old ones or thought of something bizarre and became successful in proving the theory. It is only because of their ability to take a challenge that we have access to things and are able to live life in a comfortable way. If they wouldn’t have had the courage to do it and conquer their fear then they wouldn’t have been able to invent things which have highly benefited for us and also the social and economic life.
4) Movie directors also take the opportunity to throw the dart in a crossed way by making a movie, they might not know if the movie will be a huge hit at the box office or not, they might also produce a movie with a low budget, but yet they are taking a risk on the basis of faith, knowledge, and experience. It also depends on what type of movies public likes and also how good the actor has done his acting.
5) A very high amount of risk taken by a person in his entire life is in the student life. A student has to go through a lot of things, the decisions which he will take will become the career for his entire life or the person into which he will become. A student will have to be very careful while taking a risk, he should not depend on the society to pursue something or he should not take a dip into the same river which others are taking. He should take a walk into a different world in which he believes and also in which he is confident about.
The common notion is that a person might be a skeptic or fearful to take a risk. This is the very reason that many people are afraid to do it.
I say that don’t be, it is in our blood to take a risk. For example, from a scale of 1 to 10, a mother undergoes the physical pain which can be placed on number 9, so don’t you think that a woman is taking the biggest risk of her life? And even though having a knowledge about it, she still undergoes it. She undergoes the risk and the pain fearlessly and painfully.
The famous Albert Einstein quoted in a very inspirational way that ” A person who has not taken a risk has not tried anything in his life”
About this quote, I would like to say that, without opening your eyes, you cannot try anything. If you are not bravely doing it, you are missing something very important in your life. And this absence will make you utter the world “I wish”. I wish I would have done this, I wish I would have done that and it will make you frown your entire life, but the positive glitch to this point is the quote ” It is never too late for anything, i.e. to pursue anything or to jump into the leap of faith”. Now you are having a full-fledged knowledge about the pros and cons , how to take risks in different careers and what will be the outcome of it.
But still, the practical approach of it can be very unpredictable.
You never know what incident might strike or what plan can lead you where or what risk can lead you where. But all you need is to have courage and perseverance in your life.
All I am trying to say again and again is that without a little prick you wouldn’t exist, the main motive of life would have been stagnant.
So take a risk, no matter what and achieve your goals in life.
Since, Internet has come it has changed everything we now no longer rely on books for knowledge neither do we have to anymore pay heavy bills to talk to our near and dear ones and also we don’t have to roam in market for shopping we can get anything we need easily from internet at best price possible.

The school is the place of nostalgia. The place of fear, panic, fun and Friends, of course, has turned into a cherished past in our memory eventually.
But not to forget, it was a place of getting marks and grades. First girl/boy, the place we all wanted so bad, how can we ignore this part, results?
Yes, results were a big part of the school, and I remember how my mum and dad compared my results to that of some other classmates, and how I hated that!
No wonder, every student has gone through this interrogation and comparison period at least once in their school life.
That panicked and scared moment when your class teacher is about to distribute your grade cards, how can we forget those?
And opening those cards like we are about to open a punch box! But now when we are successful in our life or when we are not, sometimes a thought popped up, were those grades and mark sheets necessary?
Do they matter?
No, they don’t. Once someone told me- “Stay in school, work hard, get good grades, and go to college. Do these things, and some day you’ll be successful.”
That is the biggest lie one can ever hear. I remember, dad saying how much board grades helps you to become successful and how I am going to relax all my life after getting excellent marks.
Here, I’m gonna say, thank you mum and dad, for misleading me so bad! No, I don’t blame them; I don’t blame any parents out there because they have been treated like this when they were in schools.
The whole education system of our country is to blame for these things.
This system educated us, gave us grades but no, they haven’t taught HOW to be successful.
Here, I’m going to point out some faults of our schools or the education system, and how they mistreat us.
A big no! Yes, that is what our school grades and education systems have taught us. You can’t fail.
It is just not okay to be failed. If you are a failure, everyone will call you looser, sometimes even teachers too.
Mum dad will look at you like you are never going to achieve anything in your life.
But failure is the pillar of success. If you can’t accept failure, you cannot achieve anything.
Before getting on the top, you have to know what its base is! But school grades never taught us this.
What’s that? Well, yes you are allowed to have a hobby but only when you don’t have your studying thing around.
You cannot give more preference to your hobbies.
Passion is nothing, studying what your class teacher has taught is everything. This is how the root of the talents is smashed Nowadays; success is far too out.
Competition is everything.
If you aren’t competing, you are nothing. Don’t help anyone, focus on yourself.
Where schools are supposed to teach us the greatness of sharing, it strives more to make us selfish.
The characteristics of Indian education system are pretty summed up in the points mentioned above. Then the question arises, how the grade marks are going to help us in future? Certainly, it doesn’t.
It fails to teach us the primary lessons of our life. How can someone expect it to help us in future?
Source: Times of India
Besides all these moral characters, there are some logical sides too. Schools always test our memories, not our intelligence.
Have you ever realized this point? Schools and our so-called education system always put our minds on some grade scale, but never our intelligence.
It never rewards our creativity.
It rewards how much information we can swallow, doesn’t matter whether we are capable of understanding that or not.
And those students, who thrive to become the topper, try their level best to fit in this test. But unfortunately, they don’t realize they are losing their intelligence.
What will happen if you don’t use a particular gadget for a long time? It will be rusted. In the same way, when students don’t use their brain, creativity for a long time, it ceases to exist.
Real life requires different types of skills. It needs the skill of surviving. It needs the skill of embracing failure. It requires the skill of accepting you for who you are. It needs confidence. Brutally enough, school grades don’t teach us all these.
And if you will consider your career aspect, you will see how your grade cards are exempted from all things in life.
People don’t care whether you were a topper or not, they will only consider whether you are fittest in the job arena or not.
They will place your creativity, your fluency in the language, and your other co-curriculum activities before your school grades.
Your board grades will hardly matter. Your in-field experience will make you successful eventually.
Success depends on upon your passion, dedication, consistent effort towards the goal you have. A good grade shows your dedication and constant effort towards your academic not effort and dedication towards your goal.
The path of success is too harder than getting a good grade. You have to sacrifice other things, stand up even if nothing is happening in your way, think and work practically to achieve that and deal with reality, not with only textbooks.

They are the living example, how a school is not the only key to becoming successful in our life.
Source: Times of India
School grades aren’t the only ray of hope. School grades don’t matter apparently. What matter are your skills? Your passion for you goal. Efforts and dedication to make you a greater person.
But don’t be too fascinated with this drop outs. They are surely fortunate people around us, but somewhere they are exceptions.
Not all school/ University dropout makes it successful every time. This needs courage and confidence.
Here my suggestion is, don’t push too hard to make your grades good. Don’t lose your creativity and brain for your stupid grades.
Learn to embrace failure.
Be your self. And do what you want to do in your life.
And I promise, your school grades won’t ever come in scenes in your entire lives.
Career is something which has become a big question mark on the face to all the students because they are behind the lament position of the rat race.
Education in our country India is flourishing in the industrial department because they are, each and every year producing machines which are none other than our brothers homo sapiens.
The word passionate or in love is confined only to money, it is only that parchment paper which excites us most?. Where has the interest gone? Where is that spark in your eye when you do your work?
Is earning money what life all about?
If so, I would have bought my own money printing machine. Ironic enough?
When the question arises about what career is best for you, you can open your mouth wider enough and say that ” I will make a career out of what I really want to do and not what I have to or the society wants me to do”.
I think it is a really good time that each and every one of us should realize this tremendously important point.
An individual might motivate you to take up the career which you like but a group of person will not only degrade you but also take that little thought of career out of you, so be careful as to who’s thought you take into account.
A career will be best for you only when you are passionate and in love with it, it is only then you can actually make a career out of it and succeed.
There are many persons who will realize what career is best for them at a very young age because of the beautiful implementation of incidents.
Incidents and fate play a pivotal role in one’s life. It is very tragic that many people don’t realize or actually see their career or talent in hidden incidents.
This is the exact point which us today, at this moment should take into account because this will really help you to reveal yourself to the naive side of yourself.
A very bright and good example can be given is of Salim Ali who is popularly known as the “Birdman of India”. During his childhood days, Salim Ali shot a bird for a sport with his toy air gun and it was later found out by W.S. Millard, Secretary of the Bombay Natural History Society that it was a yellow-throated sparrow. Young Salim instantly grew fascinated about birds, his research and books about birds became the bible for ornithologist and the rest is history.
But don’t feel upset if you don’t find your childhood as fascinating, interesting or incidental as his because this is the beauty of incidents that we tend to find or realize it at the time when we least expect it .
Reminiscing childhood is one way of choosing a career and there are many other ways to choose a career.
A career can also be found in what you are not good at because when you are not good at something, you try to be good at it and when you try to be good at it, you try to find the way of excellence and then you find yourself placed into the career which you never imagined.
But be cautious, career is not found in your everyday tea cup.
Writer Chetan Bhagat initially pursued engineering, then did his MBA and started working as an investment banker in Hon Kong, there was something amiss in his life because his heart was a writer’s one. He left his initial career to pursue his career in writing and the rest is known by each and every avid reader. His novels have not only sold over 7 million copies but are also made into movies.
This is the beauty of career, to have a courageous step taken with a leap of faith and then it gives you the gift of success, right in front of your doorstep.
In a very different manner, Writer Ravinder Singh never ever imagined that he would become a writer. Choosing a corporate career, he initially never knew what he was capable of, the teary incidents of his life made him express his feelings into the infinity of texts, which made him become one of the famous writers of India.
Can you see what happened over here? Career itself found him.
In life, maybe, when you are just looking rather than actually seeing, career itself presents you in its most tragic and unimaginable way and then makes you into the person you actually want to be.
The hilarious notion of “Man makes good engineers” has churned up today’s youth into the by-products of something they were never meant to be. A braver point I find is that, even though they are lead into a wrong path, they later, somehow find their actual path in which they were meant to exist.
It is said that, do something and make a career out of that passion, which doesn’t let you sleep, which comes in your dreams and tries every day to throw a spark of hint at you and says, that this is who you are and this is who should be.
Numerous people have switched their careers from business or corporate or mechanical to social work, soothing, environmental etc and also vice versa.
One of the great or common or highly recommended way to choose your career is to peep into that list of yours which utters the sentence “My hobbies” or ” My favorite pass time” because these will be the one’s by which you can make a career, if you have the courage enough to pursue it, and even if you don’t, you will, at some point in your life get drawn to that path because that inner little creative side of yours will try to crop up, even if you try to shove it off again and again.
The famous and international bestseller novel “The monk who sold his Ferrari” by Robin Sharma speaks about career change which brought inner peace and tranquility. The novel speaks about a very successful lawyer Julian Mantle who is spilled up with his daily redundant life. Even though being highly excellent and perfect in his law career, he finds it difficult to be in the law of life. After a heart attack, he decides to put a stopper to his busy hectic life and goes on an extraordinary odyssey to find and absorb his spiritual side which not only changes him physically but also mentally. He goes to India to find the sages who hold the secrets to a better life, all the wisdom they know is flown to him and the result of it is highly promising.
If you are looking for a career change or a career find, I highly recommend you to read this novel because it will give you an in-depth knowledge and also a sneak peak into what will be the end of a non-loving career, this novel will highly open up your spiritual side and will make you famished for goodness because this is what life is all about.
There are many common people who found their liking in the midst of nothing and also in the midst of everything, so let us, take a deep breath and find something better for us because life is lived only once and nobody has the chance to live it again and again.
So I am saying over here is that, be spontaneous, there is nothing you will regret.
It is probably a myth that life is all about making money because when you do something you love, money will come automatically at your footstep.
So go! live your life!
WHAT ACTUALLY CAUSES DEPRESSION ?
World Health Organization has stated the fact that at least 1 in 5 women and 1 in 10 men suffer from depression at some point in their lives. It can be caused by anything ranging from family issues, work pressure, illness, use of alcohol and drugs, prolonged grief to even seasonal change and excessive use of social media.
There are people who feel depressed due to sleeping disorder, and even when their favorite movie or TV series ends.
The problem is found more pressing in city dwellers compared to the rural population.
WHAT DOES DEPRESSION DO TO YOU?
Now is the time I should be speaking in first person, as I have had my fair share of depression previously. There are a series of symptoms that can be felt by anyone who has been even faintly hit by the devil of depression. The most common symptoms are as follows:
- Lack of energy, fatigue, lethargy
- Lack of concentration
- Hopelessness, feeling like a lost cause
- Feeling powerless, full of despair
- Lack of drive, and can’t snap out of the situation
- Not enjoying the regular actions, doing almost nothing
- Sudden weight gain or loss
- Body cramps, aches which don’t get fine by medicines
WHY IS DEPRESSION SUCH A MONSTER?
Well, Depression sneaks in quietly, it stays in your shadows, grows upon you, climbs through your limbs, gets into your skin, and becomes a parasite.
It is not exactly found in everyone, but those who suffer from it, face it in different kind of forms. It’s a slow, lurking disease and it is seriously stubborn. Actually, depression doesn’t heal itself with time, nor does it fade out. It needs certain efforts and inputs in order to drive depression away.
It brings out the sadness, the bad memories and experiences which let you down, and feel low.
Depression is persistent, and it keeps on growing, because our mind becomes used to it, it automatically rejects the positivity around.
The reason why I called it a Monster because it makes you feel scared, and you are lacking confidence to do even the easiest things. And the saddest thing is, it returns, called as a relapse.
WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES WE FACE, AND HOW TO DEAL WITH THEM?
While being stuck in depression, we generally don’t know that how deep we have fallen into it. The positive thing about this is, there is always scope to find your space and come out of it, the challenge here is, our mind is not ready to take this decision.
From now onward, I would be stating out the challenges we face, and the turnarounds on how to deal with them easily.
People suffering from depression might have faced similar challenges in a different order.
The first challenge that a man struck by depression faces is to make positive decisions.
It is simply because the mind is opposing any such thought which creates positivity, it just wants to reside in reclusion keeping quiet.
Well, the easiest solution to this problem, is to start small. We tend to avoid making big decisions at such points, but small initiatives like taking a walk in the morning, or calling someone randomly, or even going out for short intervals is good for a start.
Just like depressions starts slowly, it can end gradually if right efforts are put.
People tend to isolate themselves, put themselves in reclusion, and this is normal because the mind is not sound of making right decisions and that scares people.
The key to balance this is to stay connected as before.
People tend to deactivate their facebook accounts, delete the whatsapp application, and get socially disconnected from the people whom they should be talking to.
When I was depressed, I used to deactivate my facebook account every week, though it took only few days to activate it again.
At such point, reaching out to people seems very difficult, and we lack confidence to face them.
But we should know, that its not a sign of weakness to reach out to people when you need someone to let your heart out.
We should try to be around people who care about us, and stay social. In fact, there should be more emphasis on meeting the people face to face, rather than contacting them via phone or chats.
The best thing we can do in such a situation, is to get out of the room, to get fresh air. There is one more magical thing, called as Workout.
It helps to keep the body fit, we know that already, but it regulates the blood and oxygen flow, and helps in keeping the mood swings in check. A good workout keeps the body active, and mind fresh, it also generates positivity in the mind.
(Go and see a doctor, if you are too much depressed)
There is one more thing to workout, there is a theory, that our memories tend to get embedded in our physical actions.
Thus, to get rid of negative memories, shaking the body works well. If a whole body workout is conducted, it releases the negative memories from the body, and makes it fresh again. Thus, dancing, swimming etc are good options for workout.
We also tend to resist our temptations, subside our thoughts and avoid the things that used to make us happy previously. But as soon as we are shadowed by depression, we choose to neglect our own happiness, because we have this notion that we can’t be happy anymore. And there is no magical button to suddenly turn this feeling around.
However, a small step can be taken with each passing day, and that is, to take up something that makes us feel good or used to make us feel good.
It can be a hobby we previously followed, or a new interest. In my case, I started reading my Harry Potter books again, as those made me very happy when I was young.
There is a saying, ‘What you eat, you become’.
Food plays a very important role, in cheering up the mood. We all like to eat fast food, junk food, cheese loaded pizzas, and double-decker burgers. Well, the first thing we should avoid during depression, is to eat junk food, the more we think that we are pampering ourselves, the worse it does to our mood.
However, lesser intake of sugar, and more fruits, leafy vegetables, salads can do wonders to the mood.
Healthy food also keeps the body functions, and digestion in order, and adds to the positivity in the mind. The focus should be on more vitamin intake, specifically Vitamin b12, as deficiency of b12 causes mood swings.
It is difficult to concentrate at such point, but to gradually improve concentration, the best and easiest way to achieve it is, Meditation. It does sound like a heavy exercise for brain, but it slowly strengthens the mind and the will power.
If possible, meditation should be joined with some yoga, a good body stretching along with meditation can be very fruitful.
Establishing a daily routine, and regular sleeping pattern, also aids to reducing the fatigue and lethargy. Once you know, that you have a proper schedule, you don’t have the reasons to just sit idle, instead you will be having tasks at hand, and it distracts you from the negative thoughts.
( This is just an example of how to make a routine chart )
The primary thing we all do in such situations is to ignore the positive thoughts. We choose to avoid every good thing that comes our way, because we think that we are not worthy of that.
We enter into a self-pity mode, where we start feeling lesser about ourselves. We accept that we are weak, and we cannot be happy, and just embrace the sadness which comes along with depression.
There is one way to deal with this, and that is to challenge the negative thought process. Now this will take serious effort, but it would definitely yield good results.
The person must notice, that what instances invoke the negative feelings inside him, and challenge those very instances.
That is a choice, and if you succeed once, in stopping those instances to make you feel negative, you will be far more confident than when you started.
Those who like to write, can develop a hobby of keeping a development journal. It literally feels good to write down your daily improvements, and to track the growth of your mental status.
If we start seeing better results, we tend to give in more efforts to come out of depression.
I also made a chart on my wall, where I noted all the good things that happened to me daily, and when it all accumulated to a big long list, it definitely left me with a wide smile.
We should simply count our blessings, while we are feeling sad for something which might or might not be ours.
It is a philosophical statement, but if followed by heart, it does help. Now in all the above suggestions, there was no mention about getting professional medical help to cure depression.
Yes, there is professional help available for treating depression, and in case you never knew, our feelings are governed by hormones.
In general terms, there are few chemicals shot in our body, which make us feel several emotions like love, excitement, fear, anger, attachment etc.
There are several hormones which directly influence certain emotions, like serotonin and oxytocin help us express love, dopamine gives us the excitement and the kick. And when these hormones are not secreted in the regular way, or at the times of their shortage, depression creeps into us.
Doctors help us come to our regular stance, by giving us medication which helps these hormones to get secreted in a regular way. But, this is not a natural way, and if we wish to discontinue the medications, things might not work out the way we wanted.
So, my suggestion would be, to first try out dealing with depression with what you are and what you can do, and if it still persists, because it’s a crazy monster, then you can definitely switch to professional help.

The wonder of nature
Kingfisher is such a bird that dives from air into the water creating very less sound while catching fishes. Using this fact, the Shinkansen bullet trains in Japan were remodeled to create less sound while entering any tunnel. It also reduced the electricity consumption by 15%. It seems nature has all the answers; we just need to look hard.
Blame it on genes
If your handwriting is hardly readable, you can now blame your genes for the same. Bad or good handwriting is not of your own making but the one you have inherited by birth.
Needing less sleep or no sleep at all is because of a gene. ‘Period 3’ or ‘Clock gene’ makes you require much less sleep than the normal one. Many famous personalities claimed that they needed very less sleep. The record of longest period without sleep goes to 64-year-old Thai Ngoc who claims to have gone without sleep for 33 years. Do you too need less sleep or is a sloth in human disguise?

Enter the emotions
There are only six emotions that can be expressed universally. They are Happiness, sadness, anger, disgust, fear, and surprise.
It is said that marriages are made in heaven. However, the process of finding that partner in an arranged marriage is certainly a hell ride. While the young ones fight with the traditional values, the elder generation hardly can make their comfort with the modern values. Most of the times that leads to rejection of the prospective bride or groom.
There are, however, also those times when the reason for rejection isn’t exactly the one’s dwelling on the borderline of normal. They are weird! We have some funny stories for you where the bride or groom was rejected because of petty or weird reasons.
You too have such tales to share. Write in the comment below.
Just for food!
Aditi N Patil’s parents found reference of a good match from one of their mediators. Impressed by the details, they proceeded to match the horoscopes. It matched! They were happy and invited them to their home. The boy’s family was nice and the entire meeting went quite well as expected but they never received any answer. So, after two days her father called to know the response and it was NO. Why? Well, the food served was Samosa and Sharbat, not Tea andPoha.
Rejection from a Honey Singh fan
When your parents find a well-educated, presentable, and well-setted boy for you, then the next thing left on the list is to go and meet him in person. That is what Shruti Mishra decided to do when her parents found such a person. According to her, he was nice but at times he did come across as shallow and superficial. However, it was nothing that cannot be tolerated in a person. She went out with him and was impressed by the way he treated her. As time passed, she realised something was amiss. Ultimately, it was their second meet when things became clearer. The guy kept on hinting how he wanted a fair girl whereas Shruti was dark skinned. He further reflected on the fact that he thought she will he fairer in person than her pictures and really want to marry someone who is very fair. Good for her he was truthful, she was saved from spending life with someone who has such petty thoughts.
Not one but three
Well, Anusha Sharma had three such experiences. Whether she rejected the guys (we hope she did!) or they did is not clear but let’s know the reasons which are not only weird but are also evidence of social stigmas.
One of the guys was quite curious if Anusha wears jeans and ‘of course’ she won’t wear it after marriage. The second guy didn’t want her to spend her money on her parents after marriage. The third was probably the funniest, as he didn’t want Anusha to continue her studies after marriage on the pretext of the fact that dreams are not always fulfilled.
The Snaskar is in your dress
Hema was a UPSC aspirant who was staying in Chennai for her studies. One day while enjoying her sweet relationship with her bed, she got an urgent call from her mother. She was supposed to get ready as a boy’s parents are coming to meet her. Without any option, she jumped out of the bed and managed to freshen up. As it was a hostel, she decided to dress in casuals that are quite sober as per the society. After some time, she meets the boy’s parents and they had a great time together.
After few days, they were supposed to come and meet her with the boy. Instead, they received a call from boy’s father that if she wears such clothes she cannot be a Sanskari girl. This was coming from guy’s parents who were very well educated and an elder brother who was settled in the USA.
Contact lens is bad!
Poojitha tells the tale of her mother’s rejection. The proud author of 16 Kannada books was rejected because she wore contact lenses. This was done just before the engagement! Unlucky for the person who rejected this renowned author and lucky for Poojitha that she is born to this wonderful lady.
With love from America
Binitha George Mathai meets a guy who is residing in America with Indian origin. On her mother’s instruction, she went to meet the guy. From starting, the meeting was getting haywire. It started with typical questions like enquiring about her sexual life, she politely smiled and let the question pass. However, after that, the drama started. The guy went on blabbering that how he wanted to have four kids and she is supposed to stay at home to look after the kids. Also, she will cook and he will take her out for buying groceries. Irritated by the time, Binitha sarcastically asked if he sees her as someone who is a nanny, cook, and cleaner for him while he goes out to party. Guess what he said? Yes! He wants to enjoy his life and thus want to marry a ‘traditional’ Indian girl. Binitha calmly looked at him and said that she has Clinomania and expectedly he freaked out that led to rejection. Of course, it was the lady who rejected him but the last bit was just for fun.
Too much love for parents
This young lady was rejected because of a reason that is downright bizarre. While meeting the prospective groom the first thing that irritated her was his blunt question about her salary and savings. However, being on the polite side she responded and said that her savings are now low as she recently invested in the remodelling of their house as a gift to her parents. With a quite stare, the guy replied that she cares too much for her parents. If she decides to do less then they can talk forward or he is rejecting her. She is glad he rejected.
With a big ego and big mouth, this guy kept on boasting about his marks to his prospective bride. Nothing wrong in that unless you keep doing it just to show you are better than the other. Our lady in question politely listened until she started sharing her own academic excellence that was better than the guy’s. The next thing to boast was a visit to the USA that our lady also did and it irked the guy. At last, when it came to the salary he rejected her as she was earning more. In short, the lady was rejected as she was over qualified than him.
